FAQ's
Q: What is Reiki?
A: The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy." So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual and physical healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Q: How can I tell it's working?
A: During the session you may feel immediate relief in cases of headaches or pain, but the relief or positive effects may not be felt until much later that evening. One needs to remember that Reiki is a subtle form of energy.. It is powerful, but sometimes the most profound effects are not sensed right away. Again, it varies by person, but I have seen pretty amazing results in just a short time after a session. The most immediate effects are typically those of deep relaxation, warmth and peace of mind.
Q: What can Reiki be used to treat or heal?
A: It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly but more chronic illness takes longer. In some cases, such as terminal illness, there is not enough time for the progress of the disease to be reversed. However, in such cases there is usually great benefit and enhancement of the quality of life giving a sense of peace and acceptance during the time remaining. It is wonderful for stress and stress related problems. In fact every type of ill can benefit in some way from Reiki.
Q: What does Reiki feel like?
A: What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced.. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.
Q: What if I don’t feel anything?
A: You will most likely feel relaxed and warm—many feel the heat radiating from my hands, but in some cases, you may not experience this. Not to worry, some people are just less able to feel the energy than others and is not a problem. The good news is: Reiki works no matter what. Even if you don’t feel anything right away you will most definitely see its benefits later on—from reduced stress, pain or worry to even a much more deep night’s sleep.
Q: Why do practitioners charge for Reiki?
A: Practioners, like myself, are not charging for the Reiki per se, but rather their time and expertise. We have also invested a great deal of money and effort in gaining our Reiki Master Level certification—for all these reasons we charge for our services. Also, one has to understand that there has to be a balance in the service world or an exchange of energy of some sort. The energy form you give back to me is the fee. In special cases I even barter services for those who cannot afford a Reiki session—as long as a positive exchange takes place there is no karmic debt left out there that would have to be filled in some other way.
Q: What kind of certification do you have?
A: I am a certified Reiki Master Teacher under the Usui lineage of Reiki. This means I have been trained under the more traditional teaching of the original Usui heritage and have been certified in all four levels of Reiki (1-3 & Master Level) as well as having received training to teach and attune others to the Reiki energy. I was taught locally by Reiki Master Teacher Lisa Guyman.
Q: What should I expect during a Reiki treatment session?
A: Your initial treatment will begin with a short amount of paperwork that covers any conditions you might have and that I should be aware of as well as a waiver form (explaining that Reiki should not be used in lieu of medical advice but can work as a great compliment to it).
You will then be brought into the Reiki Treatment room and asked to lie down on a massage table, fully clothed. From there I would play some relaxing music and begin the Reiki treatment. Typically, I silently ask for help in a short prayer—asking God, angels and guides to assist in the treatment session and to guide me as to how best help and heal my client. I will then ground myself mentally and activate the Reiki energy by drawing some Reiki symbols on the palms of my hands. From there I would start the various Reiki hand positions, typically by laying my hands gently on various parts of your body and in some cases by guiding the Reiki energy with my hands slightly above the body. I also use my intuition and guidance from my Spirit Guides to help decide how to best treat my client. Oftentimes I will even see or hear messages from your from your own angels and guides. I will give these messages to you as I receive them or after the session depending upon your preference.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
At the end of the session I will ask you for your feedback on the treatment and give you some instructions on what to expect in the next few days. You will then make payment. for your treatment session.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: At this time I accept cash, checks and paypal transactions (which allow you to use a credit card or checking account). If you would like to pay via paypal I will send you a link prior to the appointment. Paypal transactions are expected to be made before your appointment. |
